Why choose Mountain Flat Luna?

Dobbiaco in brief

Nicknamed the «Gateway to the Dolomites», Dobbiaco (1,256 m a.s.l.) boasts a history stretching back millennia—from ancient Roman transit routes to the first Alpine railway line (1871). The famed composer Gustav Mahler spent his summers here (1908–1910). Today Dobbiaco draws visitors for international biathlon events, classical-music concerts, and cross-country ski races such as the “Dobbiaco–Cortina“ and the “Ski Tour Dobbiaco“.

From our doorstep you can hop onto the Drava Cycle Path all the way to Lienz (a 50-km descent—return by train), enjoying spectacular views of the Lienz Dolomites and passing through picturesque villages such as Sillian, Heinfels and Panzendorf. En route you can stop at family attractions like the Wichtelpark in Sillian and the Loacker factory in Heinfels. Once in Lienz, explore the historic centre before using the handy rail service that brings you and your bike back to Dobbiaco. You can also take a leisurely stroll around the Lago di Dobbiaco!

Experiences all year round

Winter on snow: skiing, snow-shoeing and fun for all

In winter, Dobbiaco is an ideal destination for snow lovers. Within minutes you can reach three renowned ski areas:

  • 3 Zinnen Dolomites – the local area with panoramic slopes for all levels
  • Plan de Corones – with its modern lifts
  • Cortina d’Ampezzo – the Tofane, Cinque Torri and Faloria areas

Dobbiaco is also a cross-country-skiing paradise, with over 200 km of groomed tracks winding through forests and Alpine scenery, starting right in town. For a gentler pace there are beautiful snow-shoe routes, and for pure fun sledding runs – including the famous Croda Rossa run in the Drei Zinnen ski area. Our apartment is the ideal refuge for a winter of sport, nature and relaxation.

Summer amid nature and breathtaking views

In summer, Dobbiaco is a paradise for hikers and cyclists. Set off with ease to the iconic Three Peaks of Lavaredo – a UNESCO World Heritage Site and symbol of the Dolomites – which lie within the municipality of Dobbiaco. These extraordinary peaks can be reached via various panoramic trails starting from well-served spots: from the evocative Lake Landro, along a path weaving through woods and stunning views; from the splendid Val Fiscalina, one of South Tyrol’s most loved and photographed valleys, offering routes of varying difficulty; or from the Tre Scarperi area for wilder, less-trodden tracks. Each access offers a unique experience and different perspectives on the Three Peaks. Other must-see sites include Lake Braies with its crystal-clear waters, the majestic Sorapiss Group and Lake Misurina. Cycle paths passing by the apartment link Dobbiaco with Lienz, Brunico and the beautiful Val Fiscalina, delivering kilometres of unforgettable scenery.
